Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Praveen Chorghade superannuated from Tata Power as Chief-(T&D) Engineering in 2019 and has over 38 years experience in power generation, transmission and distribution in India. An Electrical Engineer by education and a Technologist and Management professional. He has been on board of several solar generation companies and Powerlinks (JV between Powergrid (CTU) & Tata Power) in India. He has held senior positions in Tata Power and was CEO, Maithon Power Limited (A JV between DVC and Tata Power) from 2009 to 2013.
In the past, he has worked with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited as Head, Operations and VP Commercial during the initial years of distribution privation in Delhi and has contributed into the turnaround of Delhi distribution AT&C losses from 54%- 12% in 6 years, while ensuring 24/7 electricity supply to customers in North and Northwest Delhi.
Mr. Praveen has also been a Senior Faculty Member in the role of a Trainer, Coach and Management consultant at the Power Management Institute-NTPC from 1993 to 2003.
He has been a driver of technology adoption, automation, transformation and has expertise in contemporary and modern technologies and Management in Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution- projects, O&M functions, Systems and Practices.
Deputy Managing Director
Dr. Ernest Mupwaya Mupwaya joined EEDC as an Executive Director, in charge of Technical & Operations, as part of the organization’s efforts towards the actualization of its Sustainability and Transformation program, and was subsequently appointed deputy managing director.
He holds a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from California Intercontinental University, USA (DBA), a Master’s degree in Business Administration from University of Glamorgan and University of South Wales, United Kingdom, and also a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Zambia.
With over 30 years of experience garnered in the Electricity industry, Mupwaya has occupied very senior positions, part of which was as the Managing Director, ZESCO, Zambia; Commercial Director, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), where he was later elevated to the position of Managing Director/CEO.
He has been involved in the execution of strategies for ATC & C loss reduction, improvement of operational efficiency through effective use of integrated business information system, pre-paid meter roll-out, and customer service programmes.
Executive Director
Paul Okeke is an experienced Finance & Accounting professional with extensive Textile industry & FMCG knowledge and skills in risk management and assurance, financial accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis, financial control, strategy and planning, budgeting and budgetary control, knowledge of IFRS, SAP implementation, Finance shared services and functional leadership. He is a fellow of the Institute of the Chartered Accountant of Nigeria with over 27 year cognate experience. Has a BSC in Finance from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and an MBA in Management from Imo State University. He got four different prizes as the best graduating student in the department of Finance and Faculty of Business Administration. He is a member of Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM). He is also a registered member of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.
Paul worked as Chief Accountant, Deputy MD/Company Secretary of General Cotton Mill Ltd, Financial Controller of Grand Cereal Ltd and Finance Director of UAC Foods Ltd. He completed a certificate programme in Executive Leadership by Cornell University, USA in 2010. He attended many courses; strategic development & implementation, Executive team leadership at Lagos Business School, Unilever Regional Management Education programme at Mangochi Malawi, Strategy & Finance course at Ashridge Strategic Management Centre Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, UK and many others.
He joined Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in 2016 as Head, Finance and later rose to the position of the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. In October 2017 he was appointed by the Board to steer the affairs of EEDC as Acting Managing Director / CEO, a position held till August, 2018. Paul is currently the Executive Director in charge of Business Finance & Administration.
Chief Technical Officer
Engr. Vincent Obiora Ekwekwu joined the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in May, 2013 as a Business Manager with the Umuahia District of the company, and was later promoted to the post of Assistant General Manager responsible for Outage Management.
Considering his wealth of experience and understanding of maintenance and operation in the network, Vincent was elevated to Head the Operations Department, and was responsible for Network Operations, Maintenance, Protection and Energy Management, a responsibility which he effectively discharged until he was appointed as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the company in January, 2020.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Power System) in Electrical/Electronics from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri; MSc (Power System) Electrical/Electronics from the University of Lagos; MBA in International Business from Lagos State University and City & Guild (Power System Switching and Safety) Nottingham.
Chief Commercial Officer
Simon Bolaji has over 28 years of work experience, part of which were in the banking and financial services industry where he acquired skills and competencies spanning core functional areas like Operations, Sales & Marketing, Public Sector, Treasury Management, etc., and he served extensively in both National and Regional Coordination roles. His last role in the banking sector was at Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited as the Head of High Value Small Business Nigeria (HVSB).
He joined Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in 2016 as the Head of Revenue Cycle Service (RCS) and later moved to Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) in 2021 as Head, RCM. In 2022, he joined EEDC as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), a position he currently occupies.
He sits on the Board of Guinea Insurance where he served as the Chairman, Board Committee on Finance, General Purpose, and Investment, and member, Board Committee on Audit.
He has received notable awards, some of which include Best Marketing Staff for three years in a row (Intercontinental Bank Abuja Region 1999-2001), Most Productive Relationship Manager (Standard Chartered Bank 2007), one of the most productive (PAN Kaduna in 1998) as a Technical Assistant at Peugeot Automobile Firm.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant (ICAN) and Chartered Institute of Consultancy Management, an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (ACIPM), a member of the Institute of Management (AMNIM), and a registered member of the Financial Reporting Council.
He holds an MBA in Finance from the Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri, Imo State.
