EEDC FLAGS OFF ONE-TIME ARREARS SETTLEMENT SCHEME, OFFERS UP TO 30% DISCOUNT

Residential and Commercial Customers of Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC), under the Non Maximum Demand (Non-MD) category now stand the chance to enjoy up to 30% discount on their arrears in the "Arrears One-Time Settlement Scheme (OTS Scheme)".

The initiative, which is designed to run for a three-month period takes effect on the 22nd April, 2021, and is specifically targeted at Non-MD customers with arrears incurred as at 31st December, 2020.

To benefit from this scheme, customers are to make a one-time full payment of their arrears and enjoy 30% discount

Customers are therefore enjoined to take advantage of this generous and rare opportunity to clear their accumulated arrears

Interested customers are advised to visit the Manager (Customer Service) at the EEDC District Office nearest to them to obtain full details of the "Arrears One-Time Settlement Scheme".

 

ARREARS OTS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. WHAT CATEGORY OF CUSTOMERS ARE QUALIFIED FOR ARREARS OTS SCHEME?

Arrears OTS scheme is designed for Non-MD customers. This include both post-paid, prepaid and rural bulk customers.

2. WHAT ARREAR AMOUNT IS QUALIFIED FOR ARREARS OTS SCHEME?

Any arrears amount is qualified for the scheme

3. WHAT IS ELIGIBLE ARREARS OTS AMOUNT?

Eligible arrears for OTS Scheme are the unpaid outstanding amount as at 31st December, 2020, for post-paid customers, while eligible amount for prepaid customers is any arrear migrated to prepaid meter which has not been paid as at the time of visit of the customer.

4. HOW MUCH DISCOUNT WILL EEDC GIVE TO THE CUSTOMERS FOR THE ELIGIBLE ARREARS UPON PAYMENT?

EEDC shall give a discount of 30% on eligible arrears on both post-paid and prepaid customers after payment of 70% of eligible arrears.

5. I AM A POSTPAID CUSTOMER, HOW DO I MAKE THE 70% PAYMENT TO RECEIVE THE 30% DISCOUNT?

Payment should be made in any of our cash office or collection agent and show receipt of payment to the district Nodal officer in our various offices for confirmation and documentation.

6. I AM A PREPAID CUSTOMER, HOW DO I MAKE THE 70% PAYMENT TO RECEIVE THE 30% DISCOUNT?

The customer should visit our district offices to see the District Accountant to make payment.

7. AFTER PAYMENT, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE EEDC TO REMOVE 30% FROM MY BILL?

This will be done within 30days.

8. I AM A PREPAID CUSTOMER, WILL I BE CHARGED ARREARS AFTER PAYMENT OF 70%?

No. As a prepaid customer, no further deduction will be made on your account after payment of 70%. The 30% discount will be written off.

9. SHOULD A THIRD-PARTY AGENT COLLECT PAYMENT FOR OTS SCHEME?

Third party agents can collect payment for ONLY POSTPAID customers. All prepaid customers should visit any of our offices and pay through the District Accountants.

10. CAN A CUSTOMER SPLIT THE PAYMENT OF 70%?

This is a one-time settlement scheme and will be available to qualified customers till 31st July, 2021. Customers are encouraged to make a one-time payment. However, special cases should visit our district office to see the Network Manager.

11. WHEN WILL THE OTS SCHEME END?

The OTS Scheme will end by 31st July, 2021.
